Kristin Silverman’s practice focuses on complex civil litigation, investigations, and appeals.  Kristin has handled a wide variety of litigation and government enforcement matters, including in the areas of consumer protection, employment, antitrust, securities, contract disputes, defamation, False Claims Act, and trade secrets.  Kristin has special expertise handling class action lawsuits.

Kristin’s recent cases have included defense litigation involving:

  • Washington Interscholastic Activities Association in a series of lawsuits alleging defamation, negligence, discrimination and other claims related to a highly-publicized investigation into Bellevue High School’s football program.  Obtained dismissal of all claims without any payments to plaintiffs.
  • Large Northwest law firm in dispute with former partners relating to separation.  Obtained favorable arbitration ruling after trial.
  • Major pharmaceutical company in connection with consumer fraud allegations filed by the Washington Attorney General’s Office arising out of the sale and marketing of the company’s surgical implant products.  After successfully narrowing the claims prior to trial, the case settled on favorable terms.
  • Multinational corporation in antitrust lawsuits and investigations involving allegations of market collusion.  After obtaining full dismissal of a federal putative class action and obtaining partial summary judgment in state litigation, resolved the remaining claims on favorable terms.
  • Global asset management firm in federal litigation involving misappropriation of trade secrets and related breach of contract and fraud claims.  Obtained dismissal on a motion for summary judgment.
  • Microsoft in gender and pregnancy discrimination and retaliation case.  Obtained dismissal on favorable terms.
  • Ongoing representation of data communications and telecommunications equipment provider and one of its executives in two lawsuits involving restrictive covenant, tortious interference, discrimination, and retaliation claims.
  • Ongoing defense of Navient in Consumer Protection Act case brought by the Washington Attorney General.
  • Ongoing defense of putative class action involving wage claims.

Kristin has also conducted internal investigations involving a range of topics, including allegations related to kickbacks, False Claims Act violations, discrimination, and retaliation.  In the appellate area, Kristin has successfully handled appeals in federal and state appellate courts across the country.

Prior to joining the firm, Kristin worked in the litigation department of Mayer Brown for eight years.  She graduated with high honors and as a member of Order of the Coif from Chicago-Kent College of Law, where she served as an Executive Notes and Comments Editor of the law review.  Kristin also graduated cum laude from Northwestern University with a degree in Journalism.

Kristin’s pro bono work has focused on public policy litigation involving various constitutional challenges, including relating to religious freedom and privacy.
